A GST bill layout that fits a thermal printer

Thermal receipts are narrow, so a GST-style bill layout is an exercise in choosing what earns a line. This guide walks through the layout the GST bill templates use and what each part is for.

Steps

  1. Fill in your shop details

Shop name, address, phone and GSTIN in Settings become the bill header automatically.

  2. Open a GST bill template

Choose the 80 mm GST bill for full item lines, or adapt it to a 58 mm roll for a compact bill.

  3. Replace the sample items and totals

Item lines, subtotal, discount, CGST/SGST lines and the grand total are all editable text fields.

  4. Add the UPI payment QR

With your UPI ID in Settings, the bill ends with a scan-and-pay QR for the bill total.

What the layout carries

  • Header: shop name, address, phone, GSTIN.
  • Bill metadata: bill number, date, time, customer name and phone.
  • Item lines in monospace columns: name, qty × rate, amount.
  • Totals: subtotal, discount, CGST and SGST split, grand total.
  • Footer: payment mode, UPI QR, thank-you line, support phone.

An honest disclaimer

A layout is not a valid tax invoice. Whether a printed bill meets GST invoicing rules depends on your registration, your goods and services, and current rules — not on the paper layout. Check with your accountant or the GST portal before relying on any printed format for compliance.
