Print to a Bluetooth thermal printer from Chrome on Android

Most budget thermal printers (the 58 mm and 80 mm ESC/POS kind sold under many brand names) can print directly from Chrome on Android using Web Bluetooth. No driver, no companion app, no account.

Steps

  1. Charge and turn on the printer

Load paper, turn the printer on and keep it within a few metres of the phone. You do not need to pair it in Android settings first — Chrome asks for access itself.

  2. Open the studio

Go to print.salesforceapp.tech/app in Chrome on Android. The studio opens without a sign-in.

  3. Add a Bluetooth printer profile

Open Printers → Add printer → Bluetooth. Chrome shows a picker with nearby Bluetooth devices; choose your printer.

  4. Print a calibration page

Use the calibration print on the printer page to confirm the connection and the printable width before printing real work.

  5. Print your design

Open any design or template and choose Print → Bluetooth. The receipt or label prints on the connected printer.

Which browsers work

Web Bluetooth printing works in Chrome and Edge on Android, Windows, macOS and ChromeOS. It does not work in Safari on iPhone or iPad — iOS does not expose Web Bluetooth to web pages. On iOS, use the browser print dialog with a printer driver or app instead.

If the printer does not appear

  • Make sure the printer is on and not already connected to another phone or app — most thermal printers accept one Bluetooth connection at a time.
  • Keep the printer within 2–3 metres; these radios are weak.
  • If Chrome never shows the picker, check that the site has Bluetooth permission (site settings → Bluetooth).
  • Very old printers with Bluetooth 2.0-only serial modules may not advertise a Low Energy service. Those can still print through the browser print dialog or a USB/serial connection.

What prints best

The studio supports ESC/POS receipt output and software-tested TSPL, ZPL and CPCL label encoders. Confirm the printer language and physical mode in setup before a test print: a shared brand name does not establish compatibility. Direct printing still needs a supported browser connection; an existing system print queue remains the fallback. No retail printer model is hardware-verified yet.
